Alex Dews

Executive Director, Green Building United

Alex Dews has spent the past ten years working on green building and urban sustainability in Philadelphia. Alex worked in real estate development prior to leading program implementation and progress reporting for Greenworks Philadelphia, the city’s comprehensive sustainability plan, as well as developing and managing Philadelphia’s Energy Benchmarking and Disclosure program. As executive director at Green Building United, Alex works to integrate green building policy, codes, and above code rating systems into mainstream practices, and recently led the development of the Philadelphia 2030 District. Alex is a LEED AP BD+C and holds a BA in English from the University of Vermont and an MS in Sustainable Design from Jefferson University, where he is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Architecture.
